Structure, scoring & sources

Our structure

This version uses 36 original activity questions, six for each of the RIASEC interest areas: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional. The category structure is informed by the O*NET Interest Profiler overview and its manual (March 2021).

The wording, scoring bands, and example fields here are editorial choices for this site. This is not the O*NET assessment and is not endorsed by O*NET. This original quiz has not been validated.

How scores work

Answers score 0 (Strongly dislike), 1 (Dislike), 2 (Neutral / unsure), 3 (Like), or 4 (Strongly like). Each area has six equally weighted questions. Area score = round((sum of those six answers ÷ 24) × 100).

Our display bands are 0–33: Lower interest; 34–66: Mixed interest; 67–100: Stronger interest. These are convenient descriptive ranges chosen for this version, not population norms, percentiles, probabilities, or validated cutoffs.

Use your results with care

For students and adults exploring work activities. The quiz does not assess ability, qualifications, job eligibility, or labor-market opportunities. Low scores do not mean you lack ability. Interests and exposure to activities can change. Do not use this quiz for hiring, admissions, or other selection decisions.

For self-reflection only. Not a diagnosis, medical advice, professional advice, or a decision about which career you should choose.
